COASTAL

What is the COASTAL Project?

The COASTAL Project stands for: Creating Opportunities And Skills Teams ALliance.

The region covers: Bridgend, Neath Port Talbot, Swansea, Carmarthen, Pembroke, Ceredigion.

The aims of the COASTAL Project are to:

1) Promote employment and educational opportunities for individuals who are currently economically inactive as a result of serious and enduring mental illness and or disability or social disadvantage;

2) To develop a range of services and support across the region.

European Social Fund

The project activity is part-funded by the European Social Fund (ESF), as part of the West Wales &The Valleys Convergence Programme 2007-2013.

A participant of the COASTAL Project will receive:

  • A detailed and comprehensive assessment of need. This will result in an Individual Programme detailing the support required to assist to overcome the identified barriers to engagement in learning, training and employment.
  • Project staff will then provide or organise access to the required support to meet the participant’s needs including:
    - Access to appropriate education/skills training;
    - Supported employment or work experience;
    - Support with job applications, CV writing, interview skills, etc.
  • The support will continue for as long as it is required, up to a maximum of 12 months post employment.
  • The Project will offer support, advice and guidance to employers in order to raise awareness of illness and disability issues. We will also assist them in engaging with project participants which may lead to employment opportunities.
